What's significant? Looking over the 233 photos I shot in September, trying to choose which to show you, I don't see any that are obviously significant. Perhaps some are. All I'm saying is I can't tell. Have you ever worked in ignorance? In my world, it's the norm. So here are seven photos. If they happen to be significant, great! What I can say is they all have something in common. They are all photos of creatures. That means this essay at least has a theme if not punch. Bev Barnet, an active gardener, wasn't home when I called on her recently, but her pet praying mantis was, perhaps the biggest I've ever seen. Shouldn't she keep this thing chained?
