| Above you see the vanguard of our intrepid band of studio hoppers as we push our way through the snowy forest to yet another warm studio.
This was a great way for my wife and I to get to know our neighbors. We'd only been in Arden five weeks and were impressed that Delaware has so many artists. In Texas, you'll find maybe five or six artists in each neighborhood. Here in Arden, twenty-three had opened their studios to our inspection. |

| Is this an artist? Actually, metalworker Peter Renzetti does wonderful railings, sconces, doors, etc. Much as we loved that metal work, his remote-controlled model boats caught our eye. Here he's showing off a working steam engine inside a small tugboat. His studio was a favorite of the men on the studio tour.
Peter is presently collecting the histories, photos, literature and work of model engineers to put in an archive. You can reach him weekdays at 610 399-1530. |

| Photographer Roberta Perkins not only exhibits delicate images of nature but patiently endures the demands of roving photojournalists who insist on standing her in high-contrast lights. | ||||

| Illustrator/Oil Painter Barney King doesn't go into the advertising agency much these days. The two paintings we saw had animals in conflict -- two seagulls contending for a perch (above) and a cat and bird both eyeing a fisherman's tasty discards. | ||||

| Potter Mike McKean has better kilns but he finds this old, funky thing does the best work. He also prefers to throw straw into the fire rather than sawdust; he thinks it gives his Raku pots a better finish. Click here to send him e-mail. | ||||

| Oil Painter Linda Celestian work has evolved since her days as a student. Now her paintings combine natural elements, the 3-D layering common to assembled art, and the abstract formalism of fabric design. Click here to see more of her work. | ||||

| Woodworker Mark Taylor has a shop full of lathes. Did we say the studios were warm? Mark, we think, enjoys winter to the fullest. One of his lathes is capable of turning a five-foot diameter piece of wood.
